REVIEW: HAMA STAR 62 TRIPOD (and how to use)

I decided to buy a tripod for my Canon 600D camera to use for some night photography.

It comes with a bag so you can carry it around. It's quite a light tripod.

It comes with two spirit levels.

Also comes with a handle.

PROS:

  • Cheap and cheerful. I bought mine for £18 on Amazon including delivery.
  • It's light and comes with a bag so you can carry it around.
  • Appears sturdy enough to hold my Canon 600D when it's mounted.
  • Two spirit levels to determine whether your camera is level.
  • The minimum and maximum height is 60-160cm. Good height, I'd say.

CONS:

  • Material such as bolts for legs is made out of plastic. When I was putting the tripod back in the bag, I found plastic pieces on the floor so it's already breaking off! And I haven't even used it properly yet!
  • Does not come with a manual. For a pleb like me and can't grasp the simplistic illustration on the box, this might be a problem!

HOW TO MOUNT CAMERA:
Pull the trigger and take the small plastic bit with the screw. Screw it on to your camera and voila! Pull the trigger again and attach to the tripod. (I hope I've explained it well ^__^ lol)

Conclusion:

Overall the tripod seems to be a good purchase. I haven't used it properly yet so hopefully it will last long. However, as I've mentioned, I've already found that plastic bits are already falling off. Well, I guess you get what you pay for. Anyway, since I'm still a beginner and still grasping the basics of photography, this will have to do for now.

    1. Hi! Yes, I'd say I still have the same views. It's a good starter tripod then you can get a pricier one when you feel like you've outgrown it. Hope that helps!
